Tiny Home, Big Dreams

So I have officially started the process of getting my tiny house underway.

So how did we get here to this point and this new avenue of Jellybean Studios?……..

For the last two years I have been living in Bega, NSW, Australia. I originally moved down to Bega and was living with my Nana and working in my cousins Kitchen Business: Sapphire Coast Kitchens as a designer. In may last year my dear little roommate Nana Una passed away at 94 years young. She was a very beautiful person that was a rock and support for the family and her home was always a central meeting point for the family and friends that she had gathered in her years on this earth.

As the estate was to be sold off I needed to move out and get my own place sorted. I am blessed to have a very large extended and close family that enabled me to stay here in Bega and move into the cute little Cherry Cottage at my cousins house. I can’t be more thankful and humbled by the help that they have shown me in opening there doors.

So this now brings me to the Tiny Home…… sort of.

I had been looking at tiny houses and spaces as a way of living, I love the idea of not over complicating life by have lots and big mortgages and being stuck to the 9 to 5 rat race. Most of my previous interest in tiny living has been in the form of shipping container homes and this is still of great interest to me. However since things were changing relatively fast in my living conditions I started looking at the idea of a tiny house on wheels (THOW) more and more. Due to the fact that I wasn’t totally sure on where I wanted to live just yet and didn’t like the idea of just going out and signing the next 30 years of my life away to a bank I liked the idea of putting my savings into buying my house and then looking at the more permanent land ‘parking spot’ later on. For the initial part of life in my Tiny I will be parking it here on my cousins farm in Bega s there is a nice little spot in one of the paddocks that I am able to set up my Tiny House. My Tiny is being designed to be totally off grid so this enables me to be relatively flexible with where I will be able to park it and set up etc.

I have gone through designing the THOW with a company out of the Sunshine Coast called Aussie Tiny Houses (https://aussietinyhouses.com.au). They are a long way from where I am however they had the base design that I absolutely loved and were truly a dream to work with. So as of the 6th January 2020 I have just commissioned them to begin building my Tiny Home :D

I will be documenting the process that I have gone through on here so that those that might be interested can follow along and see the behind the scenes of the process. Another reason that I want to document this is that there is a substantial amount of information on the Tiny’ Movement out there but for the large part it is very US based and I felt that it could be helpful to have some information that is on things here in Australia and the process of doing it here.

Im so happy to have you all along for the ride and look forward to sharing the experience with you all.
